See some of the world’s best longboarders at Boardmasters

It’s not often we get to watch the world’s best surfers in the UK (it’s over 20 years since Kelly Slater pitched up in Newquay). But now that that the Boardmasters longboard event is part of the European tour, it attracts some of the best longboarders in the world.

Here’s some ladysliders to look out for when the event kicks off this Friday…

Rachael Tilly

Rachael Tilly is the world’s youngest world champion surfer, after she took out the longboard world title aged 17.

Honolua Blomfield

Stylish Hawaiian Honolua Blomfield is a multiple event winner, and is taking part in both the shortboard and longboard competition.

Justine Dupont

Multi-talented French surfer Justine Dupont charges big waves and kills it on a longboard and stand up paddle board. You can catch her in both comps too.

Alice Lemoigne

Last year’s winner Alice Lemoigne from France is back for another crack at the comp.

UK surfers

There’s also a contingent of UK longboarders to support, including Jennifer Pendlebury, Emily Currie and Samantha Raine (aka Sunshine).

Others to look out for

If you get to see any of the shortboard comp, look out for rising star UK star Ellie Turner, ex CT competitor and last year’s winner Claire Bevilacqua and Tom Curren’s daughter Lee Ann Curren.

If you’re not in Newquay, you can still keep up with the action on the WSL website.
